1.
Respiratory Therapist will set up all CPAP and BiPAP patients to
ensure proper education and assessment during the fitting process.
2.
Patients will be contacted by a respiratory therapist within one
week of setup to answer any questions patient may have about equipment.
This contact is very important at this time to make sure patient
is comfortable with mask and equipment to help ensure compliance.
Studies show if a patient is not compliant in the first few weeks;
the probability of gaining compliance thereafter decreases.
3.
Education on use, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and interface
(mask) are the first steps to compliance.
4.
Patient compliance is monitored on an ongoing basis by a respiratory
therapist at 30 day, 61-90 day, 6 months and yearly to help ensure
patient compliance or any time a patient or physician feels that
a follow up is needed.
5.
All compliance reports are sent back to the physician or sleep lab.
We work with the physician to ensure the patient is compliant and
very well educated.
